Saberhageh volume combines the first three books in the Book of Swords series. Saberhagen died of cancer, in Albuquerque, New Mexico Saberhagen was born in and grew up in the area of Chicago, Illinois. One thing I always didn’t like about the Lord of the Rings was that we were told about this collection of magic rings, but we only ‘really’ g This is one of those books I recall fondly. The full extent of its abilities is unknown, though it did turn even Aphrodite’s powers back on her.

It starts out describing the smith god with somewhat human characteristics and very descriptive sowrds scenes, that take the human condition and forge them into the 12 swords. I know there is a game afoot, created frex the ot who distribute twelve magical swords to humankind, but I’m a little miffed at still being left in the dark. As such, they have no gred power other than what mankind gives them. This is obviously a ‘first novel in a series’ kind of book, and in some ways it suffers for that.
Still, the setting is deep and well done. Although ea I really enjoyed reading the The Lost Swords again. Still, it’s a fun set of books, and I recommend them. Doomgiver possesses the ability to turn any attack, overt or otherwise, back on the attacker.

I couldn’t wait to find out what happens to the swords and the characters, and since it’s only the first part of a trilogy I was even more happy. Dracula, in his mortal life, fought the encroach of the Ottoman Turkish Empire into Europe. This book started out great and I honestly tried to get through the entire thing, but after pages, I gave up.
This is somewhat mollified by the fact that there are several more stories regarding the characters and the swords continuing past this volume.
This article relies too much on references to primary sources. The essay at the end about which more in a bit mentions that the series was written as the basis for “microcomputer” game.
