Acedia, in a way, is a sin against faith, hope and charity. Faith is cooled, hope is dimmed and charity is affected.

Also, in marriage, the spouses are stalked by the “midday demon,” that is, by acedia; they are tempted not to want to continue with the commitment they have made and to look for “new options. The Christian is always called to bear witness to the joy of the encounter with Jesus, the joy of the Gospel. The apostle Paul insists: He urges us not to let ourselves be robbed of evangelizing joy, not to let ourselves be overcome by sterile pessimism: The evils of our world- and those of the Church-should not be excuses for reducing our commitment and our fervor” Evangelii Gaudium, There is no place for acedia.
