It is the first book in the Conqueror series based on the Mongols of the Asian steppes. The characters are cl The first two books in this series, Wolf of the Plains and Lords of the Bow, are completely un-put-down-able. It answers a question I had raised lpanes reading tje 3 as to how GK could march so many men without the logistic to feed them.
Added by 10 of our members. A historically interesting story, well researched and well written, if a little overly bloodthirsty and dramatic in parts. I was born in the normal way inand vaguely remember half-pennies and sixpences. I love historical fictions, they give you a front row seat into how our world was shaped while breathing life into long cnn people. I have written for as long as I can remember: Surprisingly historically accurate series of books and a very good way of enjoyably learning about the Mongol character.

The book is fantastically written and added to the sheer beauty of the Mongolian people, their culture, their history and their lifestyle. Well done Mr A fascinating read! Highly recommend all five books. Straight into book 2 for me. In addition to differences to some names of characters and tribes, some major inaccuracies include: They are strong people. If not, it should be. His world expands as the story takes in more characters and situations.

I don’t want to give up to much of the plot of the book, but I will say that once you start reading the book you will not be able to put it down and you will want to immediately go out and get the other books as well. I found the Mongols amazing then and I still do. Nov 03, Vicki Wilson rated it it was amazing. Perhaps crucially, he also loved igyulden and cracking good tales. Conn Iggulden does teh fair job of explaining the harsh cold, snow and ot that had to be traversed by the Mongols, but until you can see the topography, it is difficult to imagine.
