At first the book did not get to me, perhaps I have read a bit too much warhammer 40k of late but in addition it might have also been my disinterest for Lorgar and the wordbearers and dislike of Angron and the worldeaters.

Some of the parts with the World Eaters where really enjoyable mainly the part about the nails killing most psykers. Now it is up to someone to finally convince me that Roboute Guilleman isn’t such a bland character, I will be really impressed if someone can achieve this. Points in favor – Sunk costs and the fact that Aaron Dembski-Bowden has a decent track record so far.
If this book makes Angron and World Eaters out to be ineffective losers, then why is there so much effort being exerted by the Legion most directly plugged into Chaos, to preserve them for the fight to come?

Probably skippable if you only care about the main HH plot, but I wouldn’t recommend that because the story was one of the better ones. There is nothing to win, just a moment of satisfaction until the next fight.
